Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: National/Federal Level
One organization that appealed to me is Teach for America. The reason I chose them is because they strive to end educational inequity. They not only work with many children from low-income communities and give them the support they need to grow and develop, but also work with educators to help strengthen the schools the children attend.
The organization can be found in several cities across America with different opportunities in each of the cities. One opportunity is a leadership coach in Memphis, while the other is in Denver as a manager of teacher leadership. Both jobs require experience managing others in achieving goals. Plus, they require applicants to have a passion for coaching and working with adults and children and a proven track record of successfully coaching adults.
Another organization that piqued my interest is Childhood Education International. This organization believes "positively transforming education is critical to securing a life for children and a safe, peaceful, and productive world for all, while supporting human rights and dignity" (CE International, n.d.). Their philosophy and values align with my beliefs and how children should have the opportunity to get a quality education.
At the moment, I could not find any job opportunities. However, they do offer courses in leadership for those who are interested leading initiatives in changing education or expanding their leadership capacity (CE International, n.d.).
World of Children is an organization that provides funds for programs that "protect, nurture, educate, and heal the world's most vulnerable children" (World of Children, n.d.). The funded programs focus on a range of children's issues including bullying, education, abuse, disabilities, homelessness and hunger, and cancer and life-saving medical care.
The job opportunity that is available is to become an ambassador on the ambassador board. The ambassadors help raise awareness and enhance profitability among young professional to establish the next generation of World of Children supporters" (World of Children, n.d.). To be considered for the ambassador board, one needs to fill out a questionnaire stating current employment, any boards or memberships served on, qualifications that make him/her a candidate, and areas of knowledge and expertise.
