Competent Communication

     When I think of a person who exhibits competent communication skills, I think of Michelle Obama, the first African-American First Lady of the United States. She exudes confidence and speaks with fluidity and positivity.  She has a way about her that commands attention and intrigue. Michelle Obama knows how to captivate an audience regardless of age.

     If I could, I would model my communication behaviors after her. I get nervous when I have to speak in public or when I have to have a simple conversation with boss or someone in a supervising position. I would like to have her confidence and ability to find the right words.

    Michelle Obama is a woman that inspires everyone, she is empowered and confident. I want her confidence to speak too.

    Great choice. I think mostly everyone can relate to this. She is very outspoken. I admire her because she is not afraid of anything. I gets very nerves in front of even a small crowd. I would like to take my communication after her as well.

    When I think of Michelle Obama, I also think the same things as you, but also that she is very inspirational. Whenever she speaks, I admire her so much because I feel that she put so much heart into everything she does. Good pick!

When I Think of Research...

When I was thinking of a research topic for my simulation, I figured I would choose one that I was experiencing and/or had experienced at some point during my teaching career. This is why the topic of childhood illness piqued my interest. I have had the opportunity to work with children who had been diagnosed with a childhood illness such as Type 1 diabetes and leukemia. I have watched them interact among their peers when they are feeling "healthy." Plus I have observed them after they received a treatment and/or were feeling "low."  I think that my simulation is important to the early childhood field because it could help teachers and parents better support children diagnosed with a childhood illness and help them facilitate children's peer interactions and/or relationships. I know that I could have benefited from similar research findings to help me and my coworkers work more efficiently and effectively with the children in our care.  My simulation can

It is hard to believe that it has been this long, yet I find it pretty rewarding to work with such a diverse group of children, families and coworkers.
